It prevents the plant from coming into contact with the soil and controls weed formation. Due to the reflective property of gray, it allows sunlight to reach the lower parts of the plant leaves and the crop. It is produced as 30-micron with AB+AO+UV additives. It can be used for up to 12 months. It helps to reduce bacterial formation on the underside of leaves, promoting an even color distribution in fruits. It keeps pests away. The reflective property of the gray increases yield (though not as much as black-white films), and it prevents premature plant development. Due to less heat buildup on the surface in contact with the plastic compared to black-colored film, it prevents leaf burn. The black side of this film should be in contact with the soil.
Black-silver gray mulch is used to manage soil temperature: while the black side warms the soil for early growth, the silver-gray side cools the soil in hot weather. This results in increased crop yield, controlled weed growth, and retained soil moisture. The silver side reflects less sunlight compared to the white side.
